Why Your Business is Making Zero Sales.
When you started your business, you obviously weren’t expecting overnight success, but you were expecting to increase consistency as you grew over time. Everyone needs to know that sometimes when you start a business, friends and family patronize it because they want to support you.
To sustain and scale your business you need to know your customers, whom to sell, what to sell, how to sell and when to sell. But what if you are doing everything right, yet all your time and effort simply don’t pay off?
The road to a sale can be long and bumpy. A sale “contains” many elements, starting with the very first impression a shopper has of your brand and finishing with a smooth checkout process. There might be some things you are doing that you are not doing right, or some mistakes you think are insignificant.

In this article, Why Your Business Is Making Zero Sales, I will highlight some of the possible reasons you are not making any sales.

Why Your Business is Making Zero Sales: You are targeting the wrong audience
To make sales, you have to know to whom you’ll want to sell to, your customers can’t be everyone. “Everyone” won’t buy from you, you will have to have a target audience in mind and push your product or services to them.
Start with creating a buyer persona for the sales process to target. Who is the customer that needs your product or service? How does your offering solve their problem?
Are the target customers capable of making the purchase decision? If not, who should you be targeting instead?
Make certain that what you’re selling alleviates pain points for your target customer and meets a need in your customers.

Don’t only focus on how great your product or service is and what features it offers. Focus instead on the customer’s problems and how your product or service offering is going to solve them.
You can use storytelling to achieve this; it could be in the form of videos or pictures.
Clearly identifying your potential customers is the core for your product, your marketing, and your brand overall.
Otherwise, you might not receive the desired response as most of your site visitors won’t be converting.
Your products are confusing or people aren’t sure of what you sell
Sometimes, people are not sure of what you offer. You sell a lot of products that are not in the same industry and it has left people confused.
Your customers are not sure if you are the right person to go for when they need clothes or if it is a car you are selling. I can feel you smiling that it can’t be that bad, believe me, it can be. There are people who do that a lot in the bid to have different streams of income.
You need to be specific on what product or service you offer, give details on your product or service. Choose a particular product you want to be known for, then build people’s trust in your brand before exploring other products.
Why Your Business is Making Zero Sales
For example, I mention NIKE, what comes to your mind first? Sneakers right? But NIKE is not only known to produce sneakers alone, they have other products like face-cap, shirts etc, but are known for their sneakers.
Choose a product to be known for and sell to your target audience, and build trust with your target audience before exploring other products.
You have no clear brand strategy
Brand strategy, or “brand positioning,” is a way you differentiate your business from your competitors, identifying what sets you apart and how it resonates with the needs of your target audience.
The latter can also help you craft a communication strategy that will make it easier to connect with your potential customers and start building a strong community.

Having a well-defined sales strategy is the key to ensuring sure-shot conversions for your business. While every business is unique and requires the sales process to be customized to meet individual organizational needs, certain steps of the process remain constant in every case.
A successful sales process is one that begins with identifying the key prospects and qualifying the leads; it culminates with the leads converting and buying your product or service offering.

You sell a lot of products that are not in the same industry and it has left people confused.
A carefully thought out sales process ensures that all your sales and marketing activities are directed toward generating qualified leads, moving them forward through the various stages of the sales pipeline, and getting them to convert.
An example of this is Apple; which has built a unique brand personality that revolves around emotions. It’s not just a brand, it’s a lifestyle.
It’s all about innovation, passion, aspirations, hopes and dreams, and this image brings the brand some kind of… exclusivity that so many seek.
Such clear positioning and the right choice of audience unite Apple users into a strong community, making it truly difficult to nudge them in any other direction
Why Your Business is Making Zero Sales: Wrong Timing
Aside from showing up consistently, Sometimes, there’s nothing wrong with your product, prices, business model, or market—it’s all about the timing. As many businesses that launched during the pandemic know, timing is everything.
“If you’re not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late,” says Reid Hoffman, founder of LinkedIn.
Launch too late, and you might miss out on the market opportunity. However, if you launched too early, you risk making a poor first impression. Once again, there’s an optimal Goldilocks-approved time to launch your product.

Launching at the wrong time can be a big damper on your business’s progress, but it doesn’t mean it’s doomed to failure
Vreal, a virtual reality (VR) platform, launched a product that was ahead of its time. They set out to build a virtual reality space where video game streamers and viewers could hang out, but the available hardware and bandwidth capabilities didn’t evolve quickly enough to support their solution.
“Unfortunately, the VR market never developed as quickly as we all had hoped, and we were definitely ahead of our time,” said the company. “As a result, Vreal is shutting down operations and our wonderful team members are moving on to other opportunities.”
Why Your Business is Making Zero Sales
Launching at the wrong time can be a big damper on your business’s progress, but it doesn’t mean it’s doomed to failure. You might need to hold on and wait out a storm, or you may need to pivot to better match the present (and future) circumstances.
Entrepreneurs make mistakes. It’s all part of the game. Don’t beat yourself up or hang your head. Identify the mistake, implement the fix, and turn your business around.
You’ve heard it before, but listen this time.
